PC Companion
The PC Companion is a software application that runs on your computer. It allows you to manage all of your ONIX navigation data, including trails, waypoints, routes, and your satellite photo and topo map photo files. The PC Companion will store all of your data downloaded from the BushnellGPS.com website into the “My GPS Archives” folder. GPS data uploaded from your ONIX will be placed in the “My Project” area, where you can view and edit your “My Project” data. Files can be saved into specific names “Projects” and also can be transferred between the My Project and My GPS Archives folders. To download and install the PC Companion to a computer, follow the instructions below.
Instructions for Installing or Updating the PC Companion
- If you have a previous version of PC Companion installed on your computer, uninstall the program by using the uninstaller in the program folder.
(START menu - All Programs - Bushnell GPS PC Companion - Uninstall PC Companion)
- Download the most recent version of the PC Companion installer from this website.
- Run the installer by double clicking on the executable.

Please check your GPS unit to verify the hardware and software version being used.
To view the software version, select the SET page, scroll down and select Unit Info.
The Unit Info page shows the model, serial number of the unit, the hardware (HW) version,
user interface (UI), and Map version. Review the user interface (UI) and Map values to determine if you have the most recent version.

Steps to Update Your GPS Unit Software
- Check your GPS unit to verify that it does not already have the latest software.
- Download the latest version from this web site to your computer. Select an appropriate folder destination on your PC in which to save the file and remember the location.
- Use the PC Companion software on your computer to update the GPS unit software.
- Click on Device at the top of the PC Companion screen, then click on "Update Map" or "Update GPS Software".
- Next, choose the folder that you previously saved the updates in.
