You and Your GPS
The Freedom to Explore
Whether the journey begins from the stone steps of a rustic wilderness cabin or from the driver's side door of your car, you'll always end up where you started with a simple touch of a button. A starting waypoint is all you'll need to just pick a direction and go. Easy to read navigational aids make it easy to keep your bearings and provide the confidence to explore with freedom. So get off the beaten path and make your own trail, with the ONIX200, you're just one "click" away from finding your way back.
The Long Haul
You've set your course, now the journey begins. This hike is not like the others - it's longer, and the plan is to go all day, and into the next. To make this kind of trip you need to be thinking about more than just conserving your energy, but also that of your GPS unit. Thankfully, your GPS includes the SafeTrack, which allows the ONIX GPS to run continuously for nearly 25-30 hours (depending on model) on a single set of batteries. With SafeTrack, your GPS enters an energy conserving "sleep" mode while maintaining constant satellite connection. It even signals you with an audible alarm whenever it senses any deviation from your course.
The HOT Spot
OK, change of plans. That 20% chance of thunderstorms has just turned into 100%, and now you need a short cut. No problem. Just press the "HOT" button to find out instantly where you are, where the nearest saved waypoint is and get quick access to your routes, so you can edit your objectives on the fly. In fact, the HOT button launches all functions from any screen with a single push. So whenever there's a problem, or you need information, or maybe you just need to know, "Where the heck am I?" Just push the HOT button and you've got answers. The ONIX200 from Bushnell - it just doesn't get any easier.
The Best Laid Plans
The ramp. You know your fishing trip starts and ends there. In between is a full day of fishing that'll take you from the submerged timber where the hogs hang out to the open water for schooling sand bass. Even if you know the lake like the back of your hand, planning where you'll be fishing that day can lead to greater success and a more efficient trip. Mark your favorite spots at home and use your ONIX GPS to quickly locate once you hit the water.
Getting Back to a Roosted Bird Without Bumping It
You roost a bird and select the exact tree where you want to set up the next morning. It's a close as you can get without bumping him off the roost, 10 yards too far walking in and you're busted.
With a Bushnell ONIX GPS you can mark the spot as a waypoint and the exact trail needed to get you back there, quickly and quietly.
Finding Your Treestand - 3 Months Later
The stand was hung in early August so as not to disturb the bruiser your post season scouting revealed. Lanes are carefully trimmed for the perfect quartering away shot at 30 yards. The time is right, you're just waiting for the right wind direction and it's game on.
That morning, the landscape has changed, the dim moonlight reveals the tree line, but it looks different now. Is it there, no, maybe it's that tree over there. Walking 30 yards past the tree will put you too close to the bedding area, and lay scent all over his likely approach trail. There is no margin for error, but fortunately, when you hung the stand in August you marked the waypoint and the best possible trail to slip into your stand undetected. We'll get you there, the shot is up to you.
Hunting the Creek Bottom
Creek bottom hunts can be great, the natural funnels often created by a creek make for great stand placement. Often times though, crossing the creek is only feasible in one spot. 10 yards either way and you've got wet boots and a long day on stand. Marking a trail on your Onyx is a great way to navigate specific obstacles on the way to your stand.
Skirting the Field Edge
You know he's there, feeding in the alfalfa and you've got to get around him for any chance at a shot. The corridor of cover on the field edge is ample, you can't quite see the field edge, but you know if you get too close, one of the many sets of eyes will bust you. Where is that field edge? With the Bushnell ONIX satellite photography and screen layering features, you'll know exactly where you are relative to the field edge, and you'll be able to maintain the appropriate distance. |
